Legislative Center

The New Jersey legislature site has a quick and simple page describing the process of a bill becoming law.

For kids, "Bill" will explain the process to them.

At the federal level, from the Library of Congress, see How Our Laws Are Made

Find out who your New Jersey legislators are and how to contact them.

The New Jersey Legislature offers a Bill Subscription Service that allows you to create and maintain a list of bills that you wish to track throughout the legislative session.  As a subscriber, you can retrieve the latest information for the bills on your list, and you will be notified of any legislative action taken on the bill after a legislative session. There is no charge to sign up for this service.

The New Jersey Legislature's website  also includes Teacher Resources and State House Visitor Information and History.
